Motor homes are handy port in storm

When hurricanes strike, some get in their cars and head for the border. Others bolt down their shutters and plywood and tough it out. And some find mobility, alternative shelter and a generator -- all in one. They rent a motor home.

Residents in the path of storms are seeking transportation and housing options, says Joe Laing, marketing director for El Monte RV, a motor-home rental company that sprung into action during the first of three Florida hurricane threats.
