Federal Fees dropped for some Arizona Recreational areas
If you're headed up Catalina Highway, you can visit several more recreational sites without paying the $5 federal fee.
Nine overlook areas on the way to Mount Lemmon are now fee-free, said Jim Payne, regional information officer for the U.S. Forest Service. The change went into effect yesterday after a review of a law Congress passed last year revealed that 14 spots in the Coronado and Prescott national forests don't qualify for charges.
Other Arizona areas where fees were dropped are:
Snow Flat Group Campground and Treasure Park Group Campground on Mount Graham.
Groom Creek Trailhead, the Lynx Creek Gold Panning Site and Mingus Summit/Rest Area in Prescott National Forest.
