On The Road With The National "See America" Family
For a couple of months each year, Brad Herzog takes his photographer wife, Amy, their two young sons and his writing job on the road in an RV to tour America.
"I like to immerse myself in America, in places," says Herzog. "When you're in an RV, you feel like you're supposed to be paying attention. The journey's the thing."
Herzog's RV journeys have resulted in critically and commercially acclaimed books about tiny American towns with intriguing and evocative names. Herzog's latest book, Small World (published by Simon & Schuster in 2004), chronicles a world of stories he encountered along America's highways - from Athens (New York) to Rome (Oregon), and from Moscow (Maine) to Mecca (California).
