RVers Fleeing hurricane Dennis

In Mississippi, Springridge Mobile Estates is welcoming RVing visitors from the past: hurricane homeless.

For the second year in a row, families from communities along the Gulf Coast have flocked there seeking refuge from whipping winds, blinding rain and potential destruction.

"People have come in and said, 'We remember you from Ivan, we were here last year,'" Robbie Hicks, manager of the 42-berth RV park in Clinton, a town about 250 miles inland, said in a telephone interview yesterday.

This year's menace is Dennis, but with the memory of the devastating 2004 hurricane season still fresh, the storm-weary travelers are trying to take the whirlwind in stride. "This is not something new to people here," Hicks added. Full Story...
