Nomads On a Mission of Active Divine Service
Jean Ward has no problem maneuvering up the stairs to paint baseboards.
The 80-year-old has installed vinyl siding, sewed curtains and performed hard manual labor with a group that camps across the country performing volunteer jobs for those in need.
She traveled in her Hurricane motor home 1,100 miles from Toledo, Ohio, to work for three weeks at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise. This is her 49th trip in 14 years with the Nomads on a Mission of Active Divine Service, an outreach ministry of the United Methodist Church.
"They say you shouldn't feel any pride or joy in helping others, but that's what keeps me going," said Ward, a mother of four and grandmother of five. Full Story...
