Rallies draw more than 500 RVs to Macon, Georgia

More than 400 motorhomes owners are camping out at the Wilson Convention Center and Macon Coliseum for a pre-rally before they head to Perry next week for a large motorhome convention.

The Monaco International pre-rally will be in Macon through Friday, said convention sales manager Nicole Hayslip with the Macon-Bibb County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Monaco is a brand of motorhome.

It is the first time the Monaco-owners club has held its rally in Macon, Hayslip said.

About 850 people from all over the United States are attending the four-day convention, she said. While many attendees are staying in the motorhomes, about 200 hotel rooms were booked. Some of those people are helping with staging the various events held during the rally.

Another rally - with about 100 recreational vehicles - is being held by Holiday Rambler RV owners at the Shrine Park in Macon.

Many of the RV attendees have gone to the visitors center to say they plan to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival, Hayslip said.
