RVers Lose Towed and Drive Miles Before They Notice

On a sunny Sunday morning on Route 191, a popular route between East Machias and Calais, David and Carolyn White were headed to Canada in their 2001 motor home.
The couple from Dillon, N.C., were also towing a 1998 Jeep — or so they thought.
About 12:30 p.m. a Route 191 resident called deputies to say he was looking out his window when he noticed the motor home and the Jeep going by.
The resident reported he saw the Jeep come unhooked, go out-of-control, shear off a mailbox and come to rest on a neighbor’s lawn.
