Winnebago Itasca Travelers Rally in Forest City, IA

FOREST CITY - It is a rite of mid-July - hundreds of motorhomes from sea to shining sea - are parked on Forest City's south side, for the Winnebago Itasca Travelers Grand National Rally.

“It's a chance to see old friends,” said Tennessee resident J.J. Wood.

On Sunday, Wood and a crowd numbering in the thousands gathered at the rally's opening ceremonies, where they heard the WIT Singers sing fight songs from around the country, the anthems from each branch of the armed services and the national anthems of the United States and our Canadian friends.

EDGAR KREMER AND his trusty sidekick, a dog named Misty, were in Forest City for the first time, and he couldn't be happier.

“Lots of people told me I should give it a try, and there's the WIT Singles so that's always nice,” he said before adding with a smile, “plus, I figured it'd be nice to show Misty a new place.”
