"Modern" Campers Wait Out Campground Renovations

JOHNSON COUNTY - Right now, at the height of the summer recreation season, a popular local campground is empty.

The modern campground at Lake Macbride State Park is closed for major renovations. Park Manager, Ron Puettmann says, "We're just trying to keep up with the times. This campground is 30 years old and was designed for a different generation of campers."

Come next year, that won't be a problem. The $500,000 project should be done by the third week in November.
