Most restrictive outdoor fire ban in years in NE Minn
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. - Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, most outdoor fires will be banned in Cook, Lake and St. Louis counties, county, state and federal officials said.
The ban, announced late Wednesday, includes all campfires, backyard fires, brush fires, burn barrels, welders, torches and other burning in forested or grassy areas, except within 1 mile of Lake Superior. In that area, recreational fires will remain legal between 6 p.m. and midnight if they are within a patrolled campground or resort and are in a designated fire receptacle designed for fires.
