'Green' RVs may be trend

RVing -- a more than $15 billion a year industry -- is more popular than ever as the monster baby-boom generation retires and hits the road. RV shipments had a record year in 2006.

Is this a sign that we'd rather go off an ecological cliff Thelma and Louise style than fall into the hands of the law (in this case, strict fuel efficiency regulations that would have the luxury motor home permanently parked)?

Or is it possible, through inventiveness, gumption and a little self-restraint, to indulge our collective wanderlust, without compromising the natural wonders we journey to admire?
