New Red Bluff, California RV resort could be complete by April

RED BLUFF - The days when the southbound entrance to Red Bluff were less than attractive are about to come to an end.

Durango RV Resorts aims to have its massive recreational vehicle park completed, landscaped and up and running as soon as mid-April, but that's dependent on the weather.

Currently the majority of the pads have been poured and construction of the club houses and the office are fairly close to completion. Paving of interior roadways, construction of three large fountains and landscaping remain. Weather will be a key factor as to when all of it is completed.

While overnighters are expected to at first be the biggest business, Hollenshade says Durango is aiming to be a bit more than a brief stop. He said there are three types of RV parks. One is the "hotel park" which amounts to a brief stay. Hollenshade says Durango is aiming to make its Red Bluff operation more than a day or two place.

As for length of stay, the park will offer daily, weekly and monthly rates. They've yet to be firmly set, but looking at an overnight stay, "we're probably talking around $35 for a regular site." You'll pay a bit more for some, like those near the riverside.

Some of what Durango RV Resort will offer:
* Gated park; 24-hour-security
* Oversize pads that can accommodate RV and trailer or car without unhitching.
* Outdoor recreation area, including bocce ball, horseshoes, paddle and tennis courts.
* A lodge with fireplace and big-screen television.
* Outdoor gathering a meeting spaces.
* "Buddy" spaces, where RVers traveling together can park with their front doors face each other.
* Vehicle wash for cars and motor coaches.
* Pet facilities, including a run and a dog-washing area.
* RV showcase area for clubs and events.
