Snow delays opening of Detroit Lake State Park campground

Oregon Parks and Recreation Department officials announced Thursday that the camping season at Detroit Lake State Park will start late.

Originally slated to open Feb. 29th park officials have delayed reopening the park's campground for 2008 until March 14th because the 294-site campground remains under two feet of snow left from January's snowfall.

Despite the lingering snow level, the park crew has reopened the low water boat ramp in the park's Mongold day-use area.
