RVers Expected in Droves at Perry Rally

The Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter is hosting its second-largest event of the year this weekend.

The largest event, of course, is the Georgia National Fair in October. But as a distant second, The Rally will bring in an estimated 3,500 recreational vehicles and 8,000 people from around the country. It also will include an attempt to break a world record.

The annual event is being held in Perry for the first time since 2001. For organizers, it was an easy choice to bring it back this year.

"We've been there before and it was highly successful," said Sue Bray, vice president of Affinity Group, a holding company that owns several organizations sponsoring The Rally. "The best thing about Perry is that when we put on a rally, we need about 250 acres, and it's very difficult to find a site that has that kind of space."

The event runs from Friday to Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. Events are planned for early birds today, but most of the participants are expected to arrive Friday.
