Campground, ranked one of the best in central Pennsylvania by Highways Magazine
Buttonwood Campground, on the Juniata River near Mexico, PA in Juniata County, was ranked by Highways Magazine as one of the best in central Pennsylvania.
“The only one equal to us is Lake Raystown Resort,” owner Dennis McFarland said of the camp’s ranking.
McFarland started Buttonwood Campground in 1993. At the time, the campground had riding stables, but over the years, that part of the business was phased out.
McFarland said the campground is now bigger and better than ever thanks to an expansion and upgrades on the property.
McFarland recently purchased a parcel of land formerly known as the Walker Campground, along the river.
