KINGSLAND, GA -- Kingsland Police say they've arrested a man for setting a motor home on fire in a gas station parking lot.
49-year old James Thornton has been charged with first degree arson, which is a felony.
Police say on Saturday an officer heard a large explosion at Cone Travel Plaza along Interstate 95. The officer found a large motor home on fire in the back parking lot of the business.
Investigators say an accelerant was used to burn the vehicle. The motor home, worth more than $300,000, was destroyed by the fire.
Lieutenant Todd C. Tetterton told First Coast News the blast was so powerful, it knocked Thornton off his feet.
The motor home was owned by someone in Massachusetts.
