Manitoba Campsites Getting Snatched Up

t was a record day for Manitoba's campground reservation system. Monday was opening day and well over 9,000 bookings were made. In fact by noon they had already surpassed the total made for the entire opening day last year. And Barry Bentham, who is director of Manitoba Parks says through day one they have already reached nearly 20 per cent of the total number of reservations made all of last year. Bentham thinks the biggest reason for Monday's record day is that it's simply easier to reserve a campsite now than ever before. With our soaring gas prices, he expects more Manitobans will choose to spend their vacations camping close to home rather than taking a long road trip.
