Smith Mountain Campground wins zoning approval

Chatham Star Tribune - Chatham,VA,USA
Campers will be able to park their recreational vehicles in the shadow of Smith Mountain early next year if a Penhook man follows through on plans for a new campground.

Fred Curl plans to put 20 campsites on nine acres near his home on Liberty Road just off Smith Mountain Road about 10 miles west of Gretna.

Curl said the campsites will be along a creek, about 600 feet off the road, and screened by trees.

All of the campsites will have water, sewer, and electricity, said Curl, who plans to cater mostly to recreational vehicles and large campers.

Campsites will rent for $20 to $30 a night.
