CAMPGROUND OFFERS LOCAL VACATION OPTION
With gas prices rising and summer vacation for students in full swing, a lot of families are looking closer to home for their vacations this year. The Chattanooga areais blessed with a number of activities, tourist destinations, and outdoor sports to help with planning a “staycation”.
But, if you are still looking to get away, without the long drive or airplane ride, there are several local places to stay or camp.
One local campground is R-Haven Overnight Family Park in Rising Fawn. What started four years ago as a place for Butch and Carolyn Raper’s family members to park their motor homes when they came for a visit, has now become a business for the Rapers.
The campground offers everything from cabins and full hook-up sites to primitive or wilderness camping. There are also pavilions, a playground, catch and release fishing pond stocked with crappie, brim, and catfish, a volleyball court, bath houses with laundry facilities, and is even pet friendly. There is also a paddle boat available for use in the pond and wading in the creek that runs along the edge of the campground.
