Citizens of Greer, AZ, Act to Keep Campground Open

"The citizens of Greer are the ones who have made this possible," Springerville District Ranger Jeff Rivera said. "I had to make the difficult decision to close this campground earlier this year because of problems associated with the outdated wastewater treatment system. We do not have the funds available to bring the current system up to code, so Greer residents came up with an innovative solution that enables the campground to open this summer.

"They actually purchased portable toilets to place in the campground and provided funds to help with the maintenance costs of these toilets," Rivera added.
