Motorcycle Club With Violent Past to Gather at CA Campground
LA JOLLA INDIAN RESERVATION, Calif. -- Members of the Mongols motorcycle club have a planned gathering Saturday at the campground on the La Jolla Indian Reservation, and extra sheriff's deputies will be on duty to monitor the meeting, City News Service reported.
As many as 500 members are expected for the annual chapter meeting.
The club is among those considered violent by law enforcement. In April 2002 at a casino in Laughlin, Nev., two Hells Angels and a Mongol were killed in a shootout. In September 2003, a Mongol fatally shot man outside a bar in El Cajon.
