WY tourism works with Cam-plex to attact events, visitors

License plates from New Jersey to Washington hang on the back of recreational vehicles that began trickling into the campgrounds at Cam-plex this week.

These are the early birds who have come for the Escapees RV Club 30th anniversary RV Rally, which officially begins Saturday. Each family is ready for an authentic Western experience that can be found only in Wyoming.

Bob Miller, of Helena, Mont., thinks that Gillette has an amazing facility for the rally.

He should know. As a full-time RVer, he has been to every state and province in the United States and Canada.

But the destination isn’t as important as the trip.

Miller has been to Yellowstone National Park, seen the Grand Tetons, been to Devils Tower and all of the other grand places in Wyoming. But finding the best place to eat or a good campground can be difficult.

“The big thing that Wyoming has going for it is combining its visitor’s centers with its rest stops,” Miller said. “It’s very important to know where you’re going and what to see (along the way).”

While planning events at Gillette this summer, Cam-plex officials worked closely with the Wyoming Travel and Tourism Board to get people here.
