Camping in the city at Glen Rouge, Canada

Nestled in an area surrounded by trees along the banks of the once mighty Rouge River lies an unusual attraction that allows people to sleep under the stars mere kilometres away from the busiest highway in Canada and the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Glen Rouge Campground is the only place where people can camp in the city (not counting backyard camp outs).

Located on Scarborough's eastern border, just north of Kingston Road lies the 125-site campground. With a coffee shop and a fast food restaurant within easy walking distance, pitching a tent or pulling in the RV might not be considered "roughing it", but as an alternative to pricey hotel rooms or for a family looking to give their young children a first taste of the great outdoors the campground is a good option.
