Corps of Engineers Reopens Oregon Campground

Statesman Journal - Salem,OR,USA
Campers who are looking for a quiet, secluded place to camp within an hour of Salem should be aware that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has renovated and reopened Ivan Oakes Campground, on the north shore of Lookout Point Reservoir, about 20 miles east of Eugene.

On summer weekends, most campgrounds around Corps of Engineers reservoirs are full because of advance reservations. However, the 24 campsites at Ivan Oakes are not on the reservation system and are offered to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

The shady, wooded campground is about six miles east of the Lookout Point Dam on West Boundary/North Shore Road near Lowell. Camping fees are $10 per night.

Campground amenities include graveled parking pads, picnic tables, drinking water and vault toilets. One additional vehicle is permitted for $5 per night provided it fits within the campsite parking pad. No additional parking is available.
