Campground hosts are valuable assets

The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources makes use of nine campground host couples at seven campgrounds. Our hosts arrive a couple of weeks before Memorial Day and stay through the Labor Day weekend.

That's no small commitment to make. Yet that is pretty standard for these highly dedicated vagabonds. They use the campground host positions across the country at county, state and federal parks as a means to explore our great country during their retirement. Each summer season will usually see these travelers as campground hosts at a different campground in a different part of the country. A retired Marine fighter pilot who was a campground host with us in 2007 is spending 2008 at a park in Alaska.
