Centra LA RV parks gearing up for evacuees

Local lodging facilities are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Gustav in preparation of history repeating itself.

Recreational Vehicle facilities and state campgrounds allow some leeway when it comes to temporary shelter for storm evacuees.

RV campgrounds from Marksville to Pollock are nearly booked to capacity, but a few of the sites will allow additional parking if necessary.

"We've rented everything except our bedrooms," said Mary Sonnier, owner of Rolling Hills RV Park and Resort in Pollock and Marson's Landing in Boyce.

Sonnier said she and her crew have fielded an estimated 400 phone calls in the last two days from people looking to evacuate their South Louisiana homes.
