Freightliner cutting 100 jobs

Softening customer demand resulting from a decline in the national economy is to blame for the loss of 100 jobs at Daimler Trucks North America's Freightliner plant in Gaffney,SC, the company said Tuesday.
Employees at Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. at 552 Hyatt St. were notified the jobs will be eliminated on Sept. 8, and all plant operations will be reduced to one shift, according to Daimler Trucks spokeswoman Amy Sills.
