Police confirm ‘misunderstanding’ in RVer's $700 gas gaffe - Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada
Bruce Harris has no idea how he managed to pump over $700 worth of diesel fuel into his motorhome and drive away without shelling out a dime.

Mr. Harris was the mystery driver behind the wheel of the massive vehicle that filled up at Sobeys gas bar in Upper Tantallon on Tuesday afternoon and then drove away without paying. After searching for three days and issuing a public appeal for help in locating the motorhome, the RCMP managed to track Mr. Harris and his wife down in Lunenburg on Friday night.

The natives of Juniper, Fla., are spending part of their summer vacation in Canada, driving their one-of-a-kind Prevost Bus Motorcoach through Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

"We stopped the bus and got out," he explained. "I pulled out my credit card. . . .swiped it at the outside credit card machine, waited until I saw the authorization response on the screen, lifted the handle, placed the pump in my filler and proceeded to fill the tank."

For one reason or another, however, the transaction was not actually approved, and Mr. Harris said there was no way to know that he had failed to pay for his gas.

Staff Sgt. Mike Taylor of the Tantallon RCMP confirmed that there was some kind of "misunderstanding," but would not provide further details.
