Another Whining Campground Owner

Feel Free to forward this to other Rvers.

Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald - Roanoke Rapids,NC,USA
ROANOKE RAPIDS - For many modern, four-wheel campers, the campsite of choice is an vacant parking lot often outside a large store such as a Wal-Mart. The choice poses problems for the community, according to one RV park operator, and Thursday city leaders will discuss his concerns.

A June 24 letter from Fred Israel, owner of RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, prompted the matter to be placed on the Roanoke Rapids Planning Board‚ agenda. The board meets at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of J. Reuben Daniel City Hall at 1040 Roanoke Ave.

Allowing RV camping in parking lots endorses a negative impact on our community, Israel said in the letter. Actually you are condoning people to sleep on our streets by overlooking the whole picture of why this should not be permitted. The state of North Carolina (Welcome Centers) do not allow overnight camping.

Israel contends parking lot camping can be hazardous to the health and safety‚ of RV enthusiasts and the public. Free RV parking areas do not provide electricity, water and sanitation facilities or garbage collection, the letter said. They can be a threat to public health and safety and impose a burden on local taxpayers. Also, they encourage crime and can generate refuse and garbage.
