Fall colors are starting to show in Minnesota
Prairie grasses and fall wildflowers are bringing the first hints of fall color to much of Minnesota. Overall, trees and shrubs are at zero to 25 percent of their peak fall color, although a few areas are further along.
On average, peak fall foliage color arrives in mid-September to early October in the upper third of the state, followed by the central third in late September and early October. Southern Minnesota peaks in late September to mid-October.
Wind, rain and frost can change conditions quickly.
