Iowa DNR recognizes campground hosts

Burlington Hawk Eye - IA, United States
DANVILLE -- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recognized two local volunteers at a recent "thank you" celebration.

The sixth annual Campground Host Appreciation Event honored volunteers from across the state. Among those recognized were Ray Ward and Betty Scott of Burlington, who serve as campground hosts at Geode State Park.

"I used to think I had missed the great moments in U.S. history of volunteerism," said Jeff Hildebrand, Lake Darling State Park ranger, "but then I work with folks like you and know that I haven't missed a thing. You are the answer to our state parks' prayers."
