Memories made at Blue Rock Hog Roast and Camp-out

Zanesville Times Recorder - Zanesville,OH,USA
BLUE ROCK - Dressed as a witch, Kailyn Cash, 2, walked in the costume parade holding the hand of her father, James Cash. The Zanesville residents attended the Blue Rock State Park's annual Hog Roast and Camp-out weekend with other family members including Kameron Sheridan, 10, who was dressed like a clown.

The campground was buzzing with activities for all ages. Pressing cider, cooking beans over an open fire, a hog roasting and trick-or-treat kept the children busy while the adults enjoyed looking at antique tractors.

"It's a nice fall event that fills the whole campground with a lot of fun activities that parents and kids love," Mark West, park director, said. "There's just a lot of fun activities."

Knerr agreed with West about all the fun activities.

"It's a great family event. There's so many things here for all ages. There's all kinds of stuff to do. Some families come over and visit and spend the day and participate in the games," Knerr said.

Memories are made at campgrounds and West is seeing parents, who went camping as children, bring their own children to the park now.

"These events specifically are the stuff that makes family's memories. The fondness of sitting around the campfire, making s'mores, those are the things you look back on. Kids that enjoyed it are now bringing their kids to enjoy camping. That means we're doing something right," he said.
