RV Shipments Fell 44% in August on Fuel Cost, Economy

Sept. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Recreational-vehicle shipments for manufacturers including Winnebago Industries Inc. fell 44 percent in August to the lowest for the month in 16 years on near-record fuel costs and a sagging economy.

North American deliveries to retailers dropped to 16,900 from 30,400 a year earlier, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association said on its Web site today. Shipments for the first eight months of the year were down 23 percent.
