Upscale RV campground taking shape in Michigan

The planned upscale RV campground near Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park is starting to take shape.

The layout of the first 157 campsites is in place, some of the concrete RV pads have been poured and construction of the office/camp store building is under way on the 73-acre site along Riley-Thompson Road.

In addition, the behind-the-scenes planning by the husband-wife owner/operator team, Roger and Casey Jourden, is moving along. The rates for the first season have been established and the weekend activities have been scheduled.

The Jourdens have been quite busy since they announced their plans to construct a destination resort/campground in July. The proposed project seems to have generated a lot of interest locally and outside the area, based on the large number of hits on the resort's Web site.

"The response has been huge, beyond our wildest dreams," said Roger Jourden II, son of Michigan's Adventure founder Roger Jourden.

Duck Creek RV Resort is expected to be a 299-site campground with large, full hookup sites and other resort-style amenities, including a large pool, a pond, trails, two playground structures, basketball and tennis courts, shuffleboard and a 3,500-square-foot clubhouse.
