Adult RV Resort residents unhappy with plan

Dialogue between the city and residents of a Surprise, AZ recreational-vehicle community has been re-ignited after a planned-area development document was lost and later redrafted for recent council consideration.

For about a year, both parties have worked on the wording of the replacement document, which establishes the development and review criteria for the area.

However, some residents of the Happy Trails Adult RV Resort, a 396-acre area near Bell Road and Cotton Lane are dissatisfied with the revision, which would ban the installation of manufactured homes in certain sections of the senior-citizen community.

Surprise Community Development Director Jeff Mihelich said that only three of the 10 sections within the development would allow these types of homes. The remaining locations would only permit traditional "stick building" homes and other structures, he explained.
