California RV Dealer Dan Gamel Closes Lots

California recreational vehicle dealer Dan Gamel has closed all but one of his remaining stores.

About 150 workers have lost their jobs. Mr. Gamel says he plans to re-open some stores in the spring.

Meanwhile, he says he will continue to sell RVs via the Internet or by appointment. Mr. Gamel tells the Fresno Bee newspaper that he plans to open two in-mall stores in 2009 to try to reach customers who might not come to a traditional RV lot.

His company was once the nation’s fourth largest RV dealer.
