Flood closes Florida Caverns State campground

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Caverns State Park campground will be closed today (Wednesday, Dec. 17) through Sunday, Dec. 21 because of flooding of the Chipola River.

The flood conditions are anticipated to continue through next week, so park management has closed the campground to safely maintain facilities for visitors, according to a news release. Cave tours will also be suspended until Thursday, Dec. 18.

Visitors with current camping reservations will be notified by Reserve America and cancellation fees will be waived. Those still wishing to camp during this time period may contact Three Rivers State Park in Sneads at (850) 482-9006.
