Motor Home Catches Fire At Gas Station

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A motor home catches fire at a Tesoro gas station in Kennewick. It happened off Highway 395 and 27th Avenue just before 3:00 Sunday afternoon.

The owner had just filled up his tank, turned the key to start it, and the engine backfired. The family had to get out quickly and run.

Firefighters say given the fire's location, they had to act fast and take extreme precautions. Tesoro employee Tina Parrot managed to turn off the gas pumps when she saw the flames, then called 911. Despite all the flashing lights, multiple fire trucks, and police cars, some drivers still tried to fill up their cars.

Firefighters say the family was headed to California after visiting relatives. The Red Cross arrived to help the family.
