Ottumwa, IA Park Camping Fees Increase

OTTUMWA — Rising utility costs affect every user and Ottumwa Park campers most likely will be no exception.

The Park Advisory Board voted Tuesday to increase campground fees in Ottumwa Park. If the City Council approves the park board’s action, tent campers will pay $9, which is $1 more, and recreational vehicle users, $15, which $1.50 more.

Park Director Gene Rathje told the board he’d received “a lot of input” about the fees.

“Mostly this is common-sense stuff. Electricity and other utilities are going up 10 percent at the campground,” he said.
