Dexter Axle to close an Elkhart plant
There is more bad news on jobs out of Elkhart, where Dexter Axle announced it is closing its plant.

The company says the closure in July is part of a plan to consolidate four northern Indiana plants into two -- In Albion and Fremont.

Along with Elkhart, Dexter Axle is closing its plant in North Manchester.

The company will meet with the union to negotiate a separation agreement for the 70 workers in Elkhart.

A company spokesperson says they hope to keep some of the workers as they expand their two remaining plants.

The company employs a total of 476 people at its Elkhart plants.

Dexter supplies axles, frames, and other parts to the RV industry.
