Lane County, OR will open RV-friendly campground Feb. 5

Lane County will open a new RV-friendly campground at 2 p.m. Feb. 5 at Armitage County Park, 90064 Coburg Road.

The campground, the closest public campground to Eugene-Springfield, has 37 full-service campsites. Two group areas include two full-service pads and a picnic/tent area for 50 people.

In celebration of the opening, the parks division is holding an essay contest: “Why I should be the first camper at Armitage Park Campground.” The winner receives three nights free camping from Feb. 5 through Feb. 7; the winner needs an RV and to be able to participate in the grand opening at 1:30 p.m.

Essays of 250 to 500 words can be e-mailed to, mailed to or dropped off at Lane County Parks, 3050 N. Delta Highway, Eugene, OR 97408. Entries must contain name, phone number and mailing address. For information, call 682-2000.
