Snowbirds find a second home in Casa Grande, AZ

Idleness and uncomfortable shoes have no place in Marilyn Roemer's retirement. A former school bus driver from New Haven, Ind., Roemer lives six months of each year at Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort, where her schedule is filled with volunteering, socializing and enjoying Arizona's warm winter days - barefoot, whenever possible.

"We leave Indiana [in the fall] when it's time to put on our shoes and we come here, where we don't need our shoes," Roemer said. "I like to be barefoot or wear sandals."
