Canadians Make Do at CA RV Resort

Canadians continue to migrate to Golden Village Palms RV Resort in Hemet, but tempered their spending in face of the economic slump and a weak Canadian dollar.

They shortened their winter stays a bit, according to Tracie Rodgers, the resort's activities director. "They're having potlucks and happy hours at their sites instead of groups going out to restaurants," she said.

Last year, before the economic collapse, Golden Village had one of its busiest winters ever and peaked with 90 percent of its 1,019 spaces occupied in mid-February.

This year, occupancy subsided a little, but 70 percent of the spaces still are filled.
