FLINT, Michigan -- Attendance at a recent camper and RV show in Flint was up by nearly 25 percent over last year, giving local dealers hope for a strong sales season despite the tough economy.
About 5,000 people attended the 33rd annual Flint Camper & RV Show at Perani Arena and Event Center earlier this month.

• Where: Expo Center, 11600 Beyer Road, Birch Run.
• When: 2 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.

A lot of folks were just looking, but some were buying, too.
"We were absolutely jammed -- it reminded me of the shows we had years ago," said Tim O'Brien, owner with wife DeeDee of RV dealer Circle K in Lapeer.
Who is buying RVs these days? Mostly those with stable jobs, but also retirees and even some former General Motors employees spending their buyout dollars, the dealers said.
