Sleepy Bear Campgrounds now part of Indigo Bluffs
Leelanau Enterprise - Leland,MI,USA
A longtime family business in southwest Leelanau County has been sold and will be expanding.
Sleepy Bear Campgrounds on M-72 in Empire Township has been sold and will be part of Indigo Bluffs recreational retreat. The property, previously owned by the Savage family, is undergoing renovations to include a two-story registration building, the addition of 40 lots for site ownership by Class A motorhome owners, and a new sanitary sewer system.
“Indigo Bluffs will truly be a unique experience for all travelers,” said proprietor Gary Becker, adding it will be one of only a few destinations in Michigan and across the country that blends upscale site ownership with traditional TV and trailer camping. “Being so close to (Lake Michigan) and (Sleeping Bear Dunes) appeals to those who are looking for a home away from home, a place they can retreat to life’s simple pleasures while also have the ability to explore.”
To help drive Phase I sales (of sites), Indigo Bluffs made its first public appearance at the largest RV show in the country, the Florida RV Trade Association’s Tampa Supershow, Jan. 13-18.
The property is scheduled to be open to the public in May.
