Going-to-the-Sun Road Gets Yearly Makeover
Now that Spring is here, rehabilitation work on Going-to-the-Sun Road is moving forward.
Glacier National Park announced plans to begin construction on Avalanche Creek Section of the historical road. The work will involve repaving the entrance into Loop-A of Avalanche Campground and rehabilitating the entire picnic area.
The road will be opened at Lake McDonald Lodge for vehicle traffic as far as Avalanche Creek, but the gate at the Creek will remain closed until the entire Sun Road opens across Logan Pass.
Short closures will occur on occasion that will restrict all access through the Avalanche area for some portions of the road work.
The work is scheduled for completion by early June.
