Great Smoky Mountains National Park Spring Schedule

WBIR-TV - Knoxville,TN,USA
With spring just around the corner, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is gearing up for visitors.

A majority of campgrounds and secondary roads will open Friday.

The park is introducing some new services this year. Day hikers now will be able to buy brown bag or dining room lunches at the Mount LeConte Lodge, which used to be limited to overnight guests. The ridge stable at Cades Cover will begin offering wheelchair accessible carriage ridges and hayrides.

The park will continue a popular attraction they started last year at the Smokemont Riding Stable. People can take a horse-drawn wagon ride along the Oconaluftee Turnpike, which is one of the earliest routes through the mountain.]

In addition to new services, several facilities are nearing completion at Sugarlands Riding Stable.
