Honey Creek Resort State Park: outdoor experience, many amenities

Tons of people appreciate the outdoors. But even with that appreciation, the idea of completely roughing it may not be ideal.

And thanks to the Honey Creek Resort State Park in Moravia, Iowa, you definitely won’t have to.

“It’s just that introduction piece,” says Michelle Wilson, manager of Honey Creek Resort State Park for Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources. “This is definitely kind of a modern gateway for us.”

Just an hour and forty-five minutes north of St. Joseph and 80 miles south of Des Moines, the resort is located on a large peninsula of Rathbun Lake in Appanoose County. The lake provides Honey Creek’s guests opportunities for sailing, water sports and fishing, but the resort has lots of other activities to keep you occupied.
