County Park Campground in Williams, AZ will close July 1

WILLIAMS ARIZONA - Due to budgetary shortfalls, Coconino County Parks and Recreation announced the Cataract Lake County Park Campground in Williams will be closed effective July 1. The park will not be staffed with a host, and camping will not be offered at the campground located on the west side of Cataract.

The park will remain open to walk-in day use from dawn to dusk. Garbage and sanitation services will not be provided so visitors are requested to adopt the "Pack It In; Pack It Out" ethic.

"The closure of the campground in Cataract Lake County Park is one of the expenditure reduction measures implemented at multiple county parks to stay within our budget during these tough economic times," said Parks and Recreation Director Todd Graeff.

The Forest Service will continue to provide customary services on the other side of the lake. Please call (928) 699-1239 for camping reservations at the Forest Service Cataract Lake Campground or call the Williams-Forest Service Visitor Center at (928) 635-4061.
