Motorhome accident injures two

Hot Springs Star - Hot Springs,SD,USA
At 11 a.m. on May 11, Fall River County dispatch received a call of an overturned motor home midway between Hot Springs and Maverick Junction

Glyndon Scott, 74, was the driver of a 40-foot Trans Star Motor Home, which was towing a Saturn Vue, and lost control of his vehicle on U.S. Highway 18 about 2-1/2 miles east of Hot Springs.

Scott swerved, tipping the motor home over onto the driver’s side into the north ditch, according to chief deputy Rich Mraz of the Fall River County Sheriff’s Office.

State Highway Patrol Trooper Shann Barrick said Scott was transported by ambulance and Scott’s wife, Ethel, 77, was transported by Black Hills LifeFlight helicopter to Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was in good condition and she was in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday night.

Barrick said the couple was not wearing seatbelts and speed may have been a contributing factor in the accident.

“He (Scott) said that he felt the back end of the RV start to come around and he lost control,” Barrick said.
